We have posted in the past about the way that artists have found inspiration over the centuries in abandoned Jewish cemeteries.
In this context, we are delighted to post this recent, evocative water color sketch of the long-neglected Kerepesi Jewish cemetery in Budapest, which was sent to us by the painter, Lindsay Topping, a retired school teacher from Bristol, England.
“I just love the atmosphere in different old graveyards, very sad when they are neglected,” Topping told us, “although I feel so many people look after Kerepesi now, things can only improve.”

these images invite my mind you in a fine poem by Avraham Ben Yitzhak:
And beforehand a gut sjabbes!
Ben
