Jewish History, Multiethnic Past, and Common Heritage: Urban Experience in Eastern Europe
July 13-August 7, 2015
Applications are due April 6 for this summer’s summer school at the Center for Urban History in L’viv for young (up to age 35) scholars from Poland, Ukraine, Belarus and Russia.
The Summer School 2015 will combine an academic program, a language school, and workshops on public history and heritage studies. The program will include lectures on Jewish history in Eastern Europe; a introductory course in Yiddish (with the possibility of further training in the intermediate level); and seminar courses on transnational approaches and topics, cultural history, and memory and heritage studies. An important part of the program will be practical work with resources and exploring different formats of implementing projects in the public space of the city.
At the seminars, participants will have the opportunity to present and discuss with the other participants their research and educational or cultural projects. The program will include tours, meetings with experts and researchers, discussions and workshops.
