Fellowships at the Center for Jewish History 2014-15
The Center for Jewish History (CJH) offers a range of research fellowships for senior scholars, early career (postdoctoral) scholars, graduate students, and undergraduates to conduct original research in the humanities, including but not limited to the fields of Jewish studies, Russian and East European studies, American studies and Germanic studies, as well as musicology, linguistics, philosophy, anthropology, sociology and history. In residence at the Center for a period of 10 to 12 months, Fellows have the opportunity to explore the collections of CJH partners – American Jewish Historical Society, American Sephardi Federation, Leo Baeck Institute, Yeshiva University Museum, YIVO Institute for Jewish Research. Preference is given to projects that make use of more than one CJH partner collection. Unless otherwise noted, the fellowship deadline is January 6, 2014.
CJH Fellowship for Senior Scholars
- Stipend of up to $65,000 for the academic year
- Must have received the Ph.D. more than six years before start of fellowship
Prins Foundation Fellowship for Senior Scholars
Intended for scholars from outside North America who seek a permanent teaching and research position in North America; preference given to applicants from Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union.
- Stipend of $75,000 with a relocation stipend of up to $15,000
- Must have received Ph.D. more than six years before start of fellowship
Prins Foundation Postdoctoral and Early Career Fellowship for Emigrating Scholars
Intended for scholars from outside North America who seek a permanent teaching and research position in North America; preference given to applicants from Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union.
- Stipend of $35,000
Prins Foundation Fellowship for Emigrating Artists and Writers-in-Residence
- Supports original research for early stage projects by artists and writers from outside North America in a variety of disciplines and may include journalists, novelists, poets, travel writers, biographers, photographers, visual artists, and others outside academia
- Stipend of $3,250 per month for up to ten months
Graduate Research Fellowship (Deadline: February 3, 2014)
Supports graduate students pursuing PhDs who are interested in using the collections of CJH partners.
- Stipend of $17,500 with possible relocation funding up to $5,000
- Applicant must have completed all course requirements but the dissertation
Israel Institute Postdoctoral Fellowship (Deadline: February 1, 2014)
The Center is an eligible host organization for the Israel Institute Postdoctoral Fellowship
- Stipend of $48,000 with an annual $3,000 research and travel budget
